Ms. Given was employed with Busch, Zurbuch & Thompson from 1992 to 2005 and again since 2018. Ms. Given works in the litigation, real estate and transactional law practices. She received her certified paralegal designation by examination in 1989 and her advanced certified paralegal designation in trial practice in 2015 from the National Association of Legal Assistants. Ms. Given was the 10th certified paralegal in the State of West Virginia.
Ms. Given was a member of the former Association of West Virginia Paralegals, Inc., an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants, where she held the positions of NALA Liaison, Secretary and Treasurer.
Ms. Given has authored and co-authored articles on the effective use of paralegals in The West Virginia Lawyer, and has been a speaker at the annual Trial Lawyers Association on the Certified Paralegal program and at the Certified Paralegal Short Course on interviewing witnesses. She was also a member of an on-site audit team for the American Bar Association for the possible ABA accreditation of a paralegal program.
Ms. Given graduated from Glenville State College in 2002 where she received a Regent’s Bachelor’s Art degree, and received a certificate in paralegal studies from the University of Charleston in May 1989. She is currently attending National Juris University where she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Paralegal Studies.
